Simon Stix
I have been an enthusiastic programmer for over 11 years. During most of that time I’ve worked on games and tools for game developers, but I’m always happy to explore new areas.
My other projects include web development, like this website, procedural art, AI, microcontrollers, but also 3d modelling, texturing, video editing, music composition, and almost all parts of game development.
I will also use any opportunity to talk about the Rust programming language.
Skills
I have mainly been working as a solo developer, which helped me become a generalist in a wide range of areas. A large part of my experience is in C# with Unity.
I’ve been a huge fan of Rust since I first heard about it and have been working on a game with a custom Rust backend for over two years.

Unannounced indie game
An unannounced multiplayer game project I have been working on as a solo dev with Unity as a renderer and a Rust backend.
A big part of this project was creating tools to simplify development for myself. This includes custom scripting languages, code generators, and lots of editor UI.

Tile Composer
A procedural content generation asset with a focus on usability.
Internally, it uses constraint solvers to fit tiles together on a grid while following constraints created by the user.

A DirectX 11 shader for Unity. It can render realistic and stylized grass.

Bruckner Tower VR showcase
A VR panoramic view of the then-unfinished Bruckner Tower in Linz. Commissioned by City Wohnbau Letzbor GmbH.
The application made it possible to show the view from apartments on different sides and heights of the tower.
Node-based shader editor
A shader editor that was originally meant to be published on the Unity asset store. Canceled due to various Unity updates.
The editor supported custom nodes and output types with the help of C# reflection.
TourVR
My bachelor thesis project for visualizing flight and hiking routes in mobile VR.
It was optimized to support a view distance of over 100km on a mobile phone to make mountain ranges in the distance visible.

A WPF based administration software for a second hand store in Linz.
